Follow directions in your interview letter with list of things to take. Have all the originals and photocopies. If your case is straight forward , I dont think you need an attorney or else if you think you need an attorney find a local person in your area who can accompany you.
I had an interview last Feb 2009, my case was pre-adjucated. My PD is 2005.
Did you get the interview letter after preadjudication or was it a part of pre adjudication process?

If you are stuck in name check over a year and PD was current, you can file WOM. Add the Secretary of State (Rice) as a defendant. Check this order where the court ordered the government to issue visa numbers (!) to long-delayed AOS applicants.

This idea was floated a few years back, but then we did not have the win of a flower campaign behind us.
We now have a senator to focus our energies on - Dick Durbin.
How about everybody with a US degree send a copy of the diploma in a packet to Sen Durbin with a message - Dont hold us hostage because of a few bad apples..something to that nature?
Alternatively we can send it to Sen Obama asking him to please let the senior senator from illinois, sen Durbin, know we are high skilled immigrants - dont hold us hostage because of a few bad apples.
maybe we can send an apple too :D

I need some guidance from experienced folks particularly those who hold MBBS degree from India and are already in US in medical profession.
My brother has received MBBS about 5 years go and he is doing his practice in rural area. His wife is also MBBS and also holds a diploma on OB/GYN area.
My question is if they want to immigrate to US what are various paths they can follow to get here?

I am sorry that your calls were not returned. I am one of the state chapter leaders, and I am working remote supporting the core team.
To tell you the truth, I know it is crazy at the Situation room. Everyone is very busy trying to keep up with 134 appointments we have sceduled today and also training all the folks that are coming in for these meetings. Everything except the most important tasks are falling through the cracks since the volunteers are overloaded.

Hope some of you might have seen the Wall Street Journal story this weekend on visas/Green Cards for owners of start-up businesses. The law is proposed by senators John Kerry (D) and Richard Lugar (R) on the principle that immigrants are more willing to be entrepreneurial and hence offering permanent residency to foreigners who will open a small business will increase the employment opportunities in U.S. Endorsing the entrepreneurial mind of new immigrants WSJ sights that; “Immigrants are nearly 30% more likely to start a business than non-immigrants ” and “about a third of Silicon Valley technology firms were started by Indian or Chinese entrepreneurs” . If the proposed bill is attempting to attract skilled and entrepreneurial minded immigrants into U.S. as a means to increase employment why not U.S. look into the pool of highly skilled and eager folks waiting for a green card for many years? Wouldn’t these folks be highly likely to open a new small business than someone from outside of the U.S. with no U.S. business background? If we are to take cues from the one third of the Silicon Valley entrepreneurs wouldn’t a good number of these people waiting for green card open up the starts up businesses that senators Kerry and Lugar are hoping to .

I filed on 8th August and havent yet received my notices in mail.. I contacted my lawyer today and he sent copies of my receipts and then he also found out that they had received my FP notice .. I am supposed to go on 27th Oct to Newark USCIS... Anyone coming on same day ..
My application is being processed at Texas..
Not many people who have filed with me has recieved any notices as of yet..
So dont worry guys we all should be fine..

Sen. Specter's immigration bill has no provisions for filing of EAD/I-485 even with priority dates retrogressed. It appears that none of the amendments are proposing that this provision be added to the final bill.
Is there something we can do to get this provision added to the bill? Can QGA help in anyway to get it added? I think that the ability to file EAD/I-485 under retrogression will benefit one and all.

There should be a box for A number, is it blank?
I remember seeing this discussion more than a year ago. Some have A#, some don't.
My 485 notice has an A number next to "beneficiary" box with my name, 140 has name mentioned in the "applicant" box but no number.
They won't adjudicate 485 without fingerprints, but you have them done already, doubt this will be an issue.

i just called USCIS to find out when i would be recieving the mail...a very nice lady told me that it is taking 30 days for us to get the mail. Even though they say they have mailed.
She said one more thing which I am not sure how far I would beileve....she said:
"It does not matter what the visa bulletein dates show as you have already filed the applications..so all you need to look at is Processing dates."
i asked her then even if the visa bulletein dates are not current for my case then do we have any chance of getting the gc...she said yes...if yours come under the processing dates.
I am not sure what to make of this.....
